A Sign with a Story: Appalachian ReUse Hub Unveils New Signage at Village Antiques

Last Updated 2/6/2025

The Appalachian ReUse Hub has a new look! The team recently unveiled brand-new signage at Village Antiques & Art, crafted entirely from locally reclaimed wood. This project reflects the Hub’s commitment to sustainability and creative reuse, transforming salvaged materials into something both functional and meaningful.
The idea for the sign came from Reuse AmeriCorps member Nyshyne, whose vision was brought to life with the help of Reclaim Appalachia and the dedicated Deconstruction Crew. More than just a sign, this piece carries a rich history—its wood was once the gym flooring at Fort Gay High School. Now, instead of being discarded, it’s been repurposed to promote the ReUse Hub’s reclaimed wood sales.
The sign stands as a testament to the power of reuse, proving that materials with history can find new purpose in the community. Visitors are encouraged to stop by Village Antiques & Art to see it in person and learn more about how reclaimed materials can be given a second life!
