Artist Spotlight: Lesa Smith at the Autumn Winds Exhibit
The captivating works of West Virginia artist Lesa Smith take the stage at Gallery 610’s Autumn Winds Group Exhibit, located at 610 W. 14th Street in Huntington, WV. Powered by RenewAll, this exhibit features some of the region’s most talented creators, and Lesa's contributions are nothing short of exceptional.
Lesa’s path to becoming a full-time artist is as layered and dynamic as the abstract mixed-media pieces she creates. Since childhood, she has felt a deep calling to create, leading her to pursue an art degree at Fairmont State College. After a career detour and opening a successful vintage furniture boutique, Lesa has now returned to her first love: abstract painting. Her works are infused with spiritual messages, often inspired by scripture and song, and incorporate natural elements like bark, clay, and stones from West Virginia’s rivers and mountains. This organic approach results in visually textured, multi-layered pieces that seem to speak to the soul.
Lesa’s journey has not only reconnected her with her creative roots but has also become her ministry, using her art to express themes of hope and healing. Recently, her work has gained significant recognition, with her paintings being featured in prestigious exhibitions such as the WV Juried Exhibition and the Tri-State Arts Association Biennial.
At Gallery 610, Lesa's powerful new works add a unique spiritual depth to the Autumn Winds Exhibit. Her ability to blend elements of nature and faith into abstract forms makes her pieces stand out, leaving a lasting impact on all who view them.
