Myth & Magic: A Solo Exhibit by Kathryn Thompson
About The Artist
Kathryn, who was born and raised in Huntington, describes her goal as an artist simply: “to create a sense of wonder and delight.” This exhibition showcases five years of her creative journey (2020–2025), revealing her growth in symbolism and an increasingly illustrative style. Her work draws from a rich mix of inspirations, including faith, fantasy, folklore, and the natural world, inviting us to seek beauty and magic in the everyday.
After earning a Master’s in English from Marshall University in 2020, Kathryn followed her true passion for art. Today, she balances life as a full-time art teacher at a local Christian school while building a body of work that is both deeply personal and universally inviting. Working primarily in oils and experimenting with mixed media, Kathryn’s paintings bridge the seen and the unseen, the ordinary and the extraordinary.
