Hattie and Nan’s Unveils Henry Pearson Serigraph at Winter Arts Fest

We’re excited to announce a special highlight for this year’s Winter Arts Fest: the unveiling of an authentic Henry Pearson serigraph. This striking piece showcases Pearson’s signature optical art, making it a rare and exceptional find for collectors and art enthusiasts.

Henry Pearson, a key figure in the Op-Art movement of the 1960s, was celebrated for his innovative use of fine line drawings and optical effects. His work was featured in the Museum of Modern Art’s influential “The Responsive Eye” exhibition in 1965 and can be found in the collections of major institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

This serigraph, created as part of the New York Film Festival’s iconic poster program, serves as a stunning example of Pearson’s work and the intersection of cinema and fine art. The New York Film Festival, founded in 1963 by Amos Vogel and Richard Roud, is renowned for commissioning artwork from celebrated artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, and Cindy Sherman. The 1968 festival, which this poster references, featured standout films like “The Fireman’s Ball” by Milos Forman and “Capricious Summer” by Jiri Menzel.

Pearson’s optical art, which plays with geometric shapes and visual illusions, invites viewers to experience a dynamic relationship between perception and design. This serigraph reflects the era's innovative approach to poster art, blending function and artistry in a way that continues to resonate today.

This one-of-a-kind serigraph will be unveiled at Hattie and Nan’s Antiques and Rare Books during the Winter Arts Fest, giving visitors a unique opportunity to experience Pearson’s work up close. Join us on March 12th from 4pm-7pm to celebrate the unveiling of this remarkable piece and immerse yourself in the creativity that defines both the festival and this iconic artwork.
