Finding the Rhythm: A Sacred Drumming Session at Grounded Earth Collective
Grounded Earth Collective recently hosted a Sacred Drumming Session, a collaborative gathering with Mystic Crafts, led by Matthew Sizemore. The evening offered more than just music; it was a chance to experience rhythm as the heartbeat of connection, culture, and spirit.
The session centered on the idea that drumming is universal, and every culture has used rhythm as a tool for grounding, expression, and spirituality. Participants were encouraged to join in freely, whether by picking up a drum, tapping a kalimba, strumming a guitar, shaking a rain stick, or simply humming along.
Lex McGlone, a participant who attended and co-owner of Mystic Crafts, described the session as peaceful and relaxing, with a welcoming atmosphere that allowed for both reflection and casual connection. No formal training was needed; the gathering emphasized openness, playfulness, and inclusivity. “It didn’t matter what instrument you had or how much you knew, you could just join in when you felt called,” Lex shared.
The drumming, music, and shared moments created an environment where people could connect spiritually, highlighting rhythm’s power to bridge paths and experiences. The group hopes to see more sessions like this in the future, continuing to offer inclusive gatherings where all are welcome, no matter their background or spiritual journey.
