2024 Highlights at Gallery 610: A Year of Artistic Vibrance

Last Updated 1/13/2025

Located inside Village Antiques & Art, Gallery 610 has been a vibrant space for artists and art lovers alike. In 2024, the gallery flourished with eight exhibitions, exciting artist demonstrations, receptions, and a host of captivating events that celebrated the creativity of our community.

A Year of Dynamic Exhibitions

The gallery showcased a diverse range of talent, with four solo exhibitions highlighting the unique voices of photographer Jesse Thornton, painters Larry Sumpter and Sydney Stewart, and printmaker Joe Cox. Themed group exhibits brought additional depth and variety, including: Planet Waves – Earthlings, Age of Aquarius, Autumn Winds, and Winter Solstice.

In total, Gallery 610 exhibited works by more than 20 artists and featured juried consignment pieces by local creators, making it a truly inclusive platform for artistic expression.

Makers Fairs: Supporting Regional Artists

In partnership with Village Antiques & Art, Gallery 610 contributed to the success of the 2024 Makers Fairs. These Open Air Pop-Up events offered a central venue for regional artists to showcase their fine art, artisan wares, and even performing arts. Local food vendors added a delicious touch, while live music and art demonstrations enriched the atmosphere.

Held monthly from May through October, each Makers Fair saw between 12 and 20 artist booths and drew a growing number of attendees, reflecting strong community support and increased artist participation. Highlights included the October Psychic Faire and unique themed events like Far-Out Fest. These fairs not only created a thriving network of local artists but also helped many build a loyal following for their creations.

In 2025, the Makers Fairs will continue on the third Saturday of each month with exciting themes:

  • May 17: 10 AM – 4 PM

  • July 19: Night Market (4 PM – 9 PM)

  • August 16: Far-Out Fest (10 AM – 5 PM)

  • October 18: From Rags to Riches (10 AM – 4 PM)

Looking Ahead to 2025

We’re kicking off 2025 with an exciting milestone: celebrating three years of Gallery 610! To mark the occasion, we’ve invited every artist who has exhibited with us since 2022 to participate in a special show, Anything Goes! Running from January 16 to February 20, this exhibit offers artists the freedom to showcase any piece of their choosing—be it newly created, a work from a private collection, or available for purchase. Join us for the artist reception celebration on January 18!

The year ahead is brimming with promise, featuring a mix of solo exhibitions and themed group exhibits. Scheduled solo artists include Kathryn Thompson, Jonathan Angle, and Abby Sowards. Themed exhibits will span imaginative topics like Moon Glow, Midsummer Power of the Sun, Woodstock Revisited, and From Rags to Riches, which will spotlight fiber arts.
