Featured Artists
Kathryn Thompson explores the interplay between fantasy and nature with her vibrant oil and gouache works, often created on unconventional surfaces. A lifelong West Virginian and passionate educator, Kathryn finds inspiration in the mystical beauty of the natural world.
Amber L. Middleton is a self-taught artist from New Orleans, LA. Over her 30-year career, Amber has worn many hats – jewelry designer, Halloween and Art doll sculptor, and oil painter. Her jewelry was in the collection of the late Ane Rice, and her Halloween and Art dolls are in collections worldwide. Shortly after relocating to Huntington in 2023, Amber suffered a terrible knee injury that eventually changed and refocused her work. Feeling confined physically, she turned to abstract painting as a way to enjoy the freedom of movement she lacked during her recovery. Amber hopes her work will evoke that freedom of movement as well as the joy of being unencumbered. Amber works in both acrylic and mixed media on canvas and watercolor and mixed media on paper. She is inspired by nature, music, books, texture, and emotion.
Clayton Spangler, a photographic artist, transforms the West Virginia landscape into dynamic interpretations of color and movement. His experimental techniques create vivid, dreamlike images that blend photography with digital painting.
Hannah Fitzgerald, known for her love of all things spooky, channels her curiosity for the afterlife into evocative fine art and photography. Her latest series, The Mistints Collection, draws on the unexpected hues of rediscovered paint.
Freddy & Daniel O’Malley, a father-daughter duo, combine their artistic talents to craft whimsical and heartfelt pieces. Their work captures the joy of collaboration and creativity across generations.
A.D. Maynard, a photographer with deep Appalachian roots, returns to art after a career in academia. Her compelling imagery reveals a quiet strength, mirroring the resilience of the winter season.
